2024 Sustainable Fashion Show
The 2024 Reimagined Sustainable Fashion Show on January 19th featured 80 student-upcycled looks and 60 student models. Sponsored by Fashion Island, the show also featured student-upcycled looks from clothing donated by the shopping destination. The standing-room-only show had more than 300 attendees in the audience.
The show's theme was déjà vu -- the phenomenon of feeling as though one has lived through the present situation before. We cling to a moment of recollection and experience our memories once again.
To Reimagined, Deja vu is the cycle of fashion. Inspired by the popularity of vintage trends in modern-day clothing, each design of the 2024 Reimagined collection takes elements from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, or 2000s. We reinvented the colorful flowers on 60s hippie mini skirts and reimagined how the iconic 80s downtown graffiti would look on a top in 2024.
Deja vu is more than an homage to the past, but also an imagination and advocacy of sustainability as the future. Everything in the 2024 Reimagined collection is reused. Reimagined members up-cycled and redesigned clothing using sewing machines, paint brushes, embroidery needles, spray paints, and the artistry of creativity. In a process of metamorphosis, we turned unwanted clothes into renewed fashion.
At the 2024 Reimagined Sustainable Fashion Show, do you get deja vu?
To advocate for fashion sustainability, improved worker conditions, and a reimagined future. Thank you for making our dreams come true.
